United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Internship Programme, Intake 2011


The UNV Internship Programme is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Political Affairs Division IV (PD IV) of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs. It aims to give young Swiss Nationals with little professional experience an insight in the work of the United Nations at field level and to assist UNV in achieving its development goals.

For this year, applications are closed. The next recruitment call will take place in September 2011. UNV representatives will however be present in Biel in Spring 2011 for the recruitment of regular professionals. Additional information will be published early 2011.

Conditions and requirements


The selected interns will spend one year in a priority country of SDC or PA IV working for a United Nations host agency. The internship will start in February 2011. Please refer to the UNV Internship fact sheet and the FAQ’s for additional information on the Programme.

Applications are closed

The recruitment process takes about four months. Applications open in September with a deadline early October. Initial screening takes place mid October, first interviews in November (cinfo) and second interview in December (UNV). cinfo is in charge of the pre selection of the candidates. Final decision is made by the UN field office after the second interview. All interns are expected to field early February.

Interviews will take place in Biel between October 29 and November 12, 2010. Candidates invited to an interview will be contacted one week prior to that time.
