foraus – The Swiss Think Tank on Foreign Policy

The Think Tank foraus advocates a constructive foreign policy and an informative dialogue: independent, scientific, relevant. We curate a large network of volunteers and experts.

Through our platform, we offer young talents voluntary access to the discourse, where they can contribute with their ideas to foreign policy – outside the traditional framework of political parties. foraus publishes scientifically-based policy recommendations in the form of discussion papers, policy briefs and blog posts, as well as organizes high-level debates with the aim of creating innovative solutions for foreign policy.

How we work

The success of the think tank is based on a unique grassroots model with more than 120 volunteers who are committed to foraus and have a common goal: to constructively shape Swiss foreign policy. The volunteer network is divided into 12 thematic groups and 9 regional groups, which work on content and organize events on foreign policy challenges. The work of our volunteers is supported by two offices in Zurich and Geneva.

... and why

We are committed to a Swiss foreign policy which strives towards constructive, coherent and progressive solutions in the interplay between efficient lobbying and the commitment to a more humane world. foraus promotes efforts of Swiss foreign policy to approach global challenges together with international partners and improve Switzerland’s position within international decision-making bodies. We take a long-term perspective and want to close the gap between science, civil society and politics.
