International Cultural Youth Exchange
(
ICYE
)

ICYE Switzerland is a non-profit intercultural exchange organisation. Our programmes promote reciprocal global volunteering in and among 40+ countries.

ICYE connects people. Getting to know another culture broadens horizons and supports personal development. An exchange sensitises people to global connections and promotes inercultural non-formal learning, inclusion and peacebuilding. ICYE accompanies this process.

Focusing on the following sustainable development goals (SDGs)

Quality Education
Reduced Inequalities
Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
Partnerships to achieve the Goals

How we work

ICYE Switzerland thrives on the voluntary commitment of its members. Many returnees support ICYE after their volunteering in social, cultural or ecological projects in preparing the new participants, in looking after the volunteers in Switzerland, on the volunteer board or in event-management and by helping to find guest families for incoming volunteers to Switzerland from other countries and cultures.

... and why

Intercultural experiences should be possible for everyone. ICYE's volunteering programmes are therefore reciprocal: on the one hand, ICYE enables young adults from Switzerland to spend time abroad and, on the other hand, welcomes young people from ICYE partner countries for a social assignment in Switzerland. The volunteers usually live with host families and work in social, cultural or ecological organisations. This gives them a deeper insight into everyday life and culture in Switzerland.
