New JPO vacancy at UNHCR for Swiss nationals

Currently, we have the following open position with the office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees:

UNHCRUnited Nations High Commissioner for Refugees : Associate Urban Planning Officer (JPOJunior Professional Officer , P-2) - Geneva

This position is financed by SDCSwiss Agency for Development and Cooperation

Requirements

  • Strong interest in a longer-term career with the United Nation
  • Master’s degree
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in planning, designing/implementing shelter and settlement strategies especially in an urban context. UNHCR counts relevant internships at 100%.
  • Excellent analytical, conceptual, writing and communication skills
  • Experience in the humanitarian sector, preferably field based working in the shelter sector
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral
  • Knowledge of a second UN language
  • Swiss nationality
  • Not older than 32 years at the date of the first round of interviews

Duration

  • 2-3 year assignment (1 year renewable fixed-term contracts). Re-assignment to a different duty station may be an option in year 3.

Start date

  • Please be aware that the recruitment process may take 3 to 6 months. You are expected to start your assignment within 3 months following notification of selection.
