Internships at International Financial Institutions

Internships are an excellent way for recent graduates with minimal or no work experience to gain insight into the operations of an International Financial Institution and build a professional network that can lead to subsequent employment.

Internships are viewed as a valuable asset for subsequent employment despite the fact that some IFIsInternational Financial Institutions have strict policies regarding subsequent employment, such as a 6-month 'cooling-off' period.

Requirements

Most IFIs require interns to be enrolled in their academic studies (Bachelor, Master, or PhD depending on the organisation) at the time of application. They should further be fluent in at least one of the institution's working languages. Additional languages and previous work experience may be an asset.

Overview of internships

The table below provides an overview of internships in some IFIs. These are open to all nationals of the organisation's member states (unless otherwise indicated), which includes Switzerland. Interns generally receive a monthly allowance to cover living expenses.
