Last updated on: 15 October 2024

The purpose of this Cookies Policy (hereinafter referred to as the "CP") is to inform users (hereinafter referred to as the "User") about the cookies used when browsing the website accessible at https://www.cinfo.ch (hereinafter referred to as the "Site"), published by cinfo - Center for Information, Counselling and Training for Professions relating to International Cooperation (hereinafter referred to as "cinfo").

Article 1 - Cookies and their use

When a User visits the Site, the Browser may record text files on the User's Equipment. These files are called Cookies. Cookies may be deposited either by cinfo or by third-party partners. Only the sender of a Cookie is likely to read or modify the information contained therein.

Cookie lifetime

After the stated lifetime, the User's consent - where applicable - is once again sought by the display of an information banner when browsing the Site. Cookies can be classified according to two main timeframes linked to their lifespan:

  • Session Cookies disappear from the Equipment when the User leaves the Site.
  • Persistent Cookies remain stored on the User's Equipment until the expiry of their programmed lifetime, depending on the specific features of the Browser and Equipment, or until deleted by the User.

Categories of Cookies and their potential uses

Four (4) categories of Cookies exist and may be used by cinfo:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: These are essential for the proper operation of the Site and cannot be deactivated. Among other things, they are essential to enable the User to browse the Site and use its Features. Users may configure their Browser to block or to be informed of the existence of these Cookies, but certain parts of the Site may be affected. These Cookies do not store any personal data about the User and are generally session Cookies.
  • Functionality cookies (or preference cookies): These enable the Site to remember the User's preferences and choices made in the past, and thus improve the browsing experience by offering a more tailored Site. For example, this could be the User's preferred language. These Cookies may be activated by cinfo or by third-party service providers whose services are used on the Site. If the User does not accept these Cookies, some or all of these services may not function correctly. These are generally persistent Cookies.
  • Analytics Cookies (or Performance Cookies): These make it possible to carry out statistical analyses of the use and performance of the Site and to improve its performance, in particular the sources of web traffic to the Site, the volumes of visits (number of unique visitors) and use of the various elements of the Site (pages and content visited, routes, movements, sessions, locations, times, operating system, etc.) over a given period. These are generally persistent Cookies, and when the User decides not to accept these Cookies, cinfo is not informed of his or her visit to the Site.
  • Remarketing Cookies (or Marketing Cookies): These track the User's activity in order to personalise their experience and the advertising they receive. These Cookies may be implemented on the Site by cinfo's partners, in particular to establish a profile of a User's interests and to offer relevant advertising on other websites. These Cookies enable targeting and segmentation activities. They are generally persistent cookies; if the User does not authorise them, his/her advertising is less targeted.

Article 2 - User consent

When Users visit the Site for the first time, they are given the option of accepting or refusing the use of different categories of Cookies. Acceptance leads to the creation of Cookies deposited on the User's Equipment.

The blocking and deletion by the User of certain Cookies may result in a deterioration in the functioning of the Site and its Functionality. In this case, cinfo declines all responsibility for the consequences linked to the level of functioning of the Site.

If the User's terminal is shared with other people, cinfo cannot ensure that the settings applied with regard to Cookies are those chosen by the User.

Article 3 - Management of user preferences

The User may manage and modify the use of Cookies at any time.

Cookie management

A management module allows the User to choose which of the Site's Cookies to accept and which to reject. Users can change their preferences at any time by clicking on the following link: Manage my cookies

By configuring the Browser to refuse Cookies, certain functions, pages or areas of the Site may not be accessible to the User, for which cinfo cannot be held responsible.

Browser settings

The User may configure his Browser so that Cookies are recorded or rejected by his Equipment, either systematically or depending on the sender.

Users may delete Cookies from their Equipment via their Browser. If the User deletes the Cookies stored on his/her Equipment, he/she will be asked to accept or refuse the use of the various categories of Cookies the next time he/she visits the Site.

Each Browser has a different configuration for managing Cookies and User choices. It is described in the Browser help menu, and enables you to find out how to modify your choices with regard to Cookies.

Cross-industry opposition platforms

Several professional advertising platforms also offer the option of refusing or accepting Cookies used by their member companies. These centralised mechanisms do not block the display of advertisements, but only prevent the installation of Cookies that enable advertisements to be tailored to the interests and behaviour of website users.

By way of example, cinfo invites the User to visit the https://www.youronlinechoices.com website in order to prohibit the installation of these Cookies on their Equipment. This site is proposed by digital advertising professionals grouped together within the European Digital Advertising Alliance (EDAA).

It is therefore possible to find out which companies are registered on this platform and offer users of any website the option of refusing or accepting the Cookies used by these companies to adapt the advertising likely to be displayed on their Equipment to their browsing data: https://www.youronlinechoices.com/fr/controler-ses-cookies.

This European platform is shared by hundreds of Internet advertising professionals and constitutes a centralised interface enabling users to express their refusal or acceptance of Cookies likely to be used in order to adapt the advertising likely to be displayed to the browsing habits of their Equipment.

Article 4 - Personal data

When using cookies, cinfo may process personal data as defined by the Federal Data Protection Act (DPA).

For more information about cinfo's processing of personal data, Users are invited to consult cinfo's Privacy Policy.

Article 5 - Applicable law and jurisdiction

The provisions of Swiss law apply to this PRC. The application of conflict of law rules is excluded.
