FAIRMED
FAIRMED is a foundation that aims to help underprivileged populations fight poverty-related diseases, regardless of medical, scientific, social, ethnic or religious affiliation.
In Africa and Asia, we undertake a wide range of activities to ensure that people in our projects have access to basic health care. These include training voluntary health workers, enabling safe childbirth and ensuring that local health facilities have the necessary medical equipment and supplies.
Focusing on the following sustainable development goals (SDGs)
How we work
We work exclusively with local staff in our country offices in Sri Lanka, Nepal, India, Cameroon and the Central African Republic. Our projects are designed in such a way to ensure that the structures remain in place after our active role has ended.
We involve local people in the design of projects from the outset. We also work with partner organisations, governments, health authorities and volunteers throughout.
... and why
We work to ensure that even the poorest people in Africa and Asia have access to basic healthcare. Our goal is to prevent anyone from suffering or dying from a curable disease.

To provide basic healthcare to the people in our projects, we work exclusively with local staff. They know the culture, speak the local language and are often part of the community. This means they are familiar with the needs of the local people and know where change is needed.
