FDFA – Human Security Division

The FDFA's Human Security Division (HSD) is responsible for the promotion of peace and human rights as set out in the Federal Council’s foreign policy strategy. It focuses on the security of the individual and protecting people against violence, war and acts of arbitrary treatment. The HSD is part of the Directorate of Political Affairs.

The Swiss Expert Pool for Civilian Peacebuilding and international organisations

Some 200 civilian and police experts from Switzerland are working in international organisations for peace and human rights.
The assignments reflect the FDFA's geographic and thematic priorities in the area of human security. As part of its efforts to encourage young talent, Switzerland also supports placement opportunities for young people in international organisations.
