New JPO vacancy at OCHA for Swiss nationals

Currently, we have the following open position with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs:

OCHAOffice for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs : Associate Humanitarian Affairs Officer (JPOJunior Professional Officer , P-2) – Yangon

This position is financed by SDCSwiss Agency for Development and Cooperation


  • Strong interest in a longer-term career with the United Nations
  • Master’s degree
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional work experience in humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, rehabilitation, development, monitoring and evaluations or other related areas. OCHA counts internships at 50%
  • Proven abilities in information analysis and strong drafting abilities
  • Knowledge of international agencies’ operations related to humanitarian assistance and familiarity with the UN system
  • Able to travel and live in complex environment
  • Fluency in English
  • Knowledge of a second UN language
  • Swiss nationality
  • Not older than 32 years at the date of the first round of interviews


  • 2-3 year assignment (1 year renewable fixed-term contracts). Re-assignment to a different duty station may be an option in year 3.

  • Please be aware that the recruitment process may take 3 to 6 months. You are expected to start your assignment within 3 months following notification of selection.
