New JPO vacancy at OHCHR for Swiss nationals

Currently, we have the following open position with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.

This position is financed by HSDHuman Security Division of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs .


  • Master’s degree in law, international law or related fields, preferably with a specialization in human rights.
  • At least three years human rights or law related work experience. The UN Secretariat counts relevant internships at 50%.
  • Good drafting ability
  • General knowledge about the field and previous experience working on women’s human rights would be an asset
  • Knowledge of international human rights treaties, machinery and laws
  • Good knowledge of and exposure to a range of human rights issues 
  • Good knowledge of institutional mandates, policies and guidelines related to human rights, in particular treaty bodies monitoring mechanisms
  • Familiarity with information technology (computer skills, word processing, Internet, databases)
  • Fluent in English, with good knowledge of two Swiss national languages
  • Knowledge of either French or Spanish
  • Knowledge of other UN official languages is desirable
  • Swiss nationality
  • Valid driving license
  • Not older than 32 years at the date of the first round of interviews


  • 2 year assignment (fixed-term contract)
