Localisation Community Platform

Welcome to the Localisation Community Platform (LCP) – a network for professionals driving localisation and decolonisation. This community offers practical knowledge, peer exchange, and engagement with global voices to support locally led approaches in international cooperation.

Why this platform?

Swiss international cooperation has seen increasing interest in localisation, shifting decision-making and resources closer to the people and communities affected. Many organisations recognise the need for change but often struggle with practical steps. While conferences and events spark discussions, localisation efforts often remain internal to organisations, relying on working groups or external consultants, mostly from the Global North. To bridge this gap, cinfo launched the Localisation Community Platform (LCP) in June 2024.

This platform provides a structured space for collaboration where professionals can learn, exchange, and develop locally led practices together. It brings Swiss organisations into dialogue with global experts, institutional donors, and practitioners from the Global South, ensuring a diverse and practical exchange.

What does the Localisation Community Platform offer?

The LCP is a space for connection, learning, and action. It brings together professionals from across organisations and sectors to share experiences, challenges, and ideas.

It is also designed for those new to localisation, offering a welcoming environment to explore the topic and learn from peers. Through curated meetings and exchanges, the platform connects members with international experts, institutional donors, and practitioners who are shaping localisation efforts globally.

Beyond discussions, the LCP provides practical guidance and expertise on key themes such as localisation strategies, risk-sharing, partnership models, and monitoring approaches. It also serves as a hub for insights into donor perspectives, organisational change, and the latest research on localisation and decolonisation.

When needed, cinfo facilitates working groups and additional meetings to support organisations in advancing their localisation efforts.

Who can join?

The platform offers two levels of engagement, allowing members to participate in a way that fits their needs. Community Members commit to three meetings per year and act as focal points within their organisations, ensuring that knowledge and insights are shared beyond the platform itself. They benefit from exclusive resources, expert discussions, and access to additional working groups.

For those exploring the topic or with specific expertise, the LCP also welcomes invited Guests. These participants join individual meetings to contribute insights and engage in discussions without a long-term commitment.

We also invite you to explore recent blog articles, working group updates, and expert insights shared within the platform. Shazia Islamshah, as the Head of the Localisation Community Platform, leads this initiative, ensuring its strategic direction and impact.
