Rethinking Knowledge Transfer
Knowledge transfer is always important, but especially so in times of change. Alongside numerous developments in the international cooperation sector, demographic shifts are also impacting organisational knowledge: as the large «baby boomer» generation retires, organisations face the challenge of retaining critical expertise. But how does knowledge transfer happen? What works, and what is just a waste of resources? What kind of knowledge are we talking about anyway?
cinfo has explored this topic by interviewing HR and knowledge management experts, as well as directors from 10 Swiss organisations in international cooperation.
Based on these interviews and with input from knowledge management expert Marc Steinlin (IngeniousPeoplesKnowledge), we identified 16 key topics around this theme.
To make our study insights engaging and actionable, we moved away from the traditional study report format. To guide, inspire, and spark meaningful discussions, we developed:
- A set of 16 « Think & Design » cards, created for individual reflection or group work, covering key topics on knowledge transfer.
- Four in-depth background articles for a closer look at the context, challenges, and practices in knowledge transfer:
We hope this will prompt valuable discussions within your organisation.
