HAFL Hugo P. Cecchini Institute

Part of BFH-HAFL, the HAFL Hugo P. Cecchini Institute contributes to the development of sustainable agricultural, forest and food systems in developing and transition countries.

BFH-HAFL offers BSc and MSc degrees in international agriculture, forestry, and food, nutrition and health. Our degrees build on a strong network, combine the latest scientific findings with practical knowledge and offer the possibility to conduct fieldwork on a topic of interest. We seek to address global challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss and conservation, natural resource management, food and nutrition safety and security, gender and youth, governance and policy frameworks.

How we work

Our research and consultancy work centres around three key pillars: integrated landscape management and food systems, project cycle management and impact assessment, and knowledge management and capacity building. Our experience and expertise span over 100 ongoing and historical projects across Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe and Latin America.
