Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH

GIZ is a global service provider in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and supports the German government, as well as public and private sector clients, to achieve their objectives in international cooperation. With this aim, GIZ works together with its partners to develop effective solutions that offer people better prospects and sustainably improve their living conditions.

Working for GIZ

Around 70 per cent of GIZ´s worldwide workforce of 18,260 people are national personnel, while 643 development workers are currently carrying out assignments for GIZ. In 2016, CIM, a joint operation of GIZ and the Federal Employment Agency, placed around 850 local and returning experts with local employers abroad while providing them with financial support and advisory services.

Sought profiles

GIZ is always looking for new staff from a wide range of sectors, including finance, taxation, agriculture, environmental policy, climate change, energy, social protection, governance and democracy, and (vocational) education and training.

Opportunities for students and junior professionals

Graduates and young professionals with up to two years of work experience can apply for junior positions in GIZ’s offices in Germany or partner countries across the globe. These are fixed-term employment contracts that help enhance career prospects with a range of employers – GIZ, international and non-governmental organisations, as well as the German private sector, public administration and academic institutions.

GIZ also offers programmes that foster young talent: apprenticeships, internships and the Development Cooperation Trainee Programme.
