The Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) works towards reducing risk to communities caused by explosive ordnance, with a focus on landmines, cluster munitions and ammunition stockpiles.
Enabling partners to implement Conventions, develop national strategies and standards, follow good practices in land release, promote regional cooperation, respond in a gender and diversity sensitive manner, and assist states to manage their ammunition according to best practices.
Focusing on the following sustainable development goals (SDGs)
How we work
The Centre helps develop and professionalise the sector by combining four lines of service: field support focused on advice and training, multilateral work focused on norms and standards, research and development focused on cutting-edge solutions, and facilitating dialogue and cooperation.
Collectively, our advisors support around 40 affected states and territories every year, while working very closely with partner organisations to achieve our goals.
... and why
At the GICHD, our vision and what drives our work everyday is to make the world a safer place for communities and a world free from risk of explosive ordnance.
