Part of the financial mechanism of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC), the GCFGreen Climate Fund allocates its resources to low-emission and climate-resilient projects and programmes in developing countries.
Switzerland and the GCF
Switzerland has played an instrumental role in the design and setting up phase of the GCF. Apart from hosting the first GCF Board meeting in Geneva, Switzerland has significantly contributed to the Fund's initial resource mobilisation.

As the only fund dedicated to responding to climate challenges, the GCF offers professionals an opportunity to work for a compelling mandate and contribute to the building of this relatively new institution.
The GCF seeks to recruit a significant amount of qualified professionals to fill vacancies in a wide range of areas. Currently in high demand are:
- technical experts (agriculture, water, and others)
- country dialogue specialists
- partnership management specialists
For experienced professionals
The GCF regularly seeks:
- professionals with a university degree and 2-3 years of experience in a field relevant to the GCF’s work for associate positions
- professionals with 3-5 years' experience, for mid-career level staff positions or consultancies
- professionals with 5-10 years' experience, for senior-level staff positions or consultancies
The GCF is particularly looking for qualified female candidates for senior-level positions.
For young professionals
Students and recent graduates in a field relevant to the GCF's operations can gain an insight into the Fund's operations during a paid internship. Internships last up to 6 months and incumbents may apply for a staff position or consultancy upon completion.
GCF's staff are hired on three-year, extendable contracts and based in its headquarters in Songdo, South Korea.
Remuneration packages at GCF are aligned with other multilateral organisations.
Application and selection process
Aside from specific vacancies, the GCF also regularly publishes generic vacancy announcements to join a consultancy roster. These rosters are groups of pre-assessed experts are used to fill specific technical or support functions.

After the screening of applications for a position, shortlisted candidates will first undergo several video-interviews before being invited for a final round of interviews and possibly a written test in Songdo.
The entire duration of the process, from the closing of applications until the extension of an offer, is approximately two months.
