Medair is a humanitarian organisation inspired by the Christian faith to relieve human suffering in some of the world’s most remote and devastated places. They bring relief and recovery to people in crisis, regardless of race, creed or nationality.

In 2016, Medair had a total of 1216 staff, 134 of whom worked at HQ. 174 were recruited internationally and 908 were recruited locally.

Sought profiles

Professionals with at least one year of professional experience in their field of expertise (not necessarily in the humanitarian sector), are sought in following areas:

  • Health and nutrition: medical doctors, nurses, nutritionists, public and clinical health professionals; psychosocial and behaviour-change specialists, midwives, and epidemiologists.
  • Water, sanitation & hygiene (WASH): engineers (civil, water resources, environmental), hydrologists, water treatment specialists, and hygiene promotion managers.
  • Shelter and infrastructure: engineers (civil / structural), architects, quantity surveyors, and construction management professionals.
  • Senior management and support: senior leaders and managers, logisticians; monitoring and evaluation, non-food item, cash and grant managers and accountants; professionals in communications, fundraising, HR and IT.

Opportunities for professionals without relief experience

People who have a Medair profile and have at least one year of professional experience in their field of expertise can apply as a New Relief Worker. This talent programme lasts twelve months and includes the “Recovery Orientation Course „.
